‘Channeling’ is a painting technique I have developed that begins with a clay and cotton cord foundation on canvas, forming channels that allow liquid reactive oil to flow and marble as it cures. The channels often function as the pathways of mazes, inviting the viewer to engage with the puzzle by touch or by sight. Liquid reactive oil marbles over a multi-day curing process, producing organic networks that appear repetitive, but upon closer inspection, reveal  unique subtleties, as the veins in a leaf.
